NSTITUTE FOR REGULATORY EDUCATION LAUNCHED IN JAIPUR, INDIA
NEW DELHI, Sept 13 Asia Pulse - In a globalised environment,
training on competition and regulatory issues is essential,
Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council Chairperson C
Rangarajan has said. "Given the changed circumstances and the role of governments
in the globalised era, training and education on these
subjects, which are still evolving, is essential," he said,
launching a project for setting up of CUTS Institute for
Regulation and Competition (CIRC) at Jaipur. Rangarajan, who is the chairman of the governing council of
the proposed institute, hoped that CIRC would meet this
requirement. The institute, which plans to take-off by offering online
diploma and training courses in the second half of 2006, would
fill up a vaccum in the area of training and education on the
subjects of commercial diplomacy, economic regulation and
competitive policy, and their inter-disciplinary approaches,
CUTS said in a statement. CIRC, an institute formed by CUTS International- a leading
research and advocacy group, would target regulators and their
staff, government officials, civil society representatives,
academicians, business, media, trade unions etc from the
developing world, in particular Africa and Asia. The institute would offer both general and customised
training to meet the requirements of the various
stakeholders. (PTI)
