Thursday March 27 11:00 AM

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c86717) has announced the addition of Australia - Digital TV - Digital Video Recorders to their offering.

The term 'personal recorder' refers to the range of devices that allow for the recording of broadcasting content. Some synonyms include PVR and DVR. Their growth has followed the rapid success of DVDs and is relevant to the digital TV market because consumer entertainment goods like plasma screen TV, DVDs and personal recorders look to be a major driver of digital TV adoption. Broadcasters have so far been able to stop introduction in Australia. In 2005 Foxtel launched its new DVR and free-to-air DVRs are now available at selected retailers. Austar is set to launch its DVR in 2007. The key to the success for DVRs is the EPG. In May 2007 Foxtel was nearing the launch of a new hybrid set-top-box incorporating digital subscription television and broadband entertainment services, called 'Foxtel By Broadband' service'. In June 2007 the Seven Network signed an exclusive agreement with US-based TiVo to launch the company's digital video recorder to Australia's 7 million TV households early in 2008.
