SYDNEY, May 8 (Reuters) - Asian shares are set to fall on Thursday after worries about inflation and higher interest rates sparked a sell-off on Wall Street as oil jumped to a record. Financial firms may decline after their U.S. peers fell following a warning from a Federal Reserve official that the central bank must be ready to raise interest rates to curb inflation. However, the rise in oil prices CLc1 to an all-time peak above $123 a barrel could lift energy firms such as Japan's Inpex Holdings Inc 1605.T and Australia's Woodside Petroleum Ltd (ASX: WPL.ax) . Asian stocks listed on Wall Street .BKAS fell 2.9 percent, while the MSCI's measure of Asia Pacific stocks excluding Japan .MSCIAPJ shed 1.3 percent overnight.
