Republic Gold Limited (ASX:RAU) Visits China For Cooperation With Large Chinese Mining Group

Brisbane, Australia, May 9, 2008 - (ABN Newswire) - The Board of Republic Gold (ASX: RAU.AX)("Republic" or the "Company") today announces that the Company has recently visited the Chinese group that is interested in the Company in China. The Company's executives had a number of very useful meetings with the senior executives of this organisation, including site visits to one of the Chinese groups operations in Southern China.

Republic gold was first visited by a Chinese company in December 2007 when the Company was able to show its Chinese guests a number of its projects in Far North Queensland. The Chinese have revisited Australia on two further occasions, both times visiting the Company's Burraga base metals project in Central New South Wales. A number of senior executives of the Chinese company have now visited Australia, including its Chairman who was accompanied on the last trip by a senior Chinese politician from Beijing.

The Company is preparing further information that has been requested by the Chinese Group.
