Suprema's Net Profit Jumps 245% in First Half

Seoul, July 17, 2008 - (ACN Newswire) - Suprema, Inc. (KOSDAQ: 094840), a leading global supplier of fingerprint recognition technology and systems, announced on Wednesday that its half-year net profit rose 245 per cent year-on-year on growth in sales and surging demand from international markets.

For the 6 months ended 30 June, the company, which makes products ranging from fingerprint modules and systems to e-passport readers and LiveScan systems, reported KRW10.4 billion (US$10.31 million) in sales and KRW4.8 billion (US$4.76 million) in operating profit, compared to KRW4.2 billion (US$4.16 million) in sales and KRW1.2 billion (US$1.19 million) in operating profit in the same period last year. Sales of the most recent quarter jumped 92% to KRW5.1billion (US$5.05 million) and operating profit rose 199% to KRW2.3 billion (US$2.28 million) from the year-ago quarter.

Strong growth in the AFIS and e-passport market further broadens the outlook for Suprema. The company is optimistic about launching its new range of internationally-certified e-passport readers and LiveScanners for the government sector in the second half of this year.

For the year ending December 2008, the company expects KRW25 billion (US$24.78 million) in sales and KRW10.4 billion (US$10.31 million) in net profit.
